We are seeking an Employment Consultant committed to delivering wrap-around employment services from client sourcing, pre-employment preparation, addressing, and finding solutions for barriers, applications and brokering job placements, through to post-placement support.

Based in Invercargill, you will work one on one with job seekers who have a disability or health condition. Our goal is to work with our clients to gain sustainable employment.   

This role offers variety and challenge for the right person and the ability to truly transform lives.   You will need to be self-driven and comfortable working autonomously.  Travel within the wider Southland region will be required and a company vehicle will be provided. 

Life skills, enthusiasm to help people, resilience, and the ability to promote the best out of people are key attributes of our employment consultants.  

About the role

  • Manage your own one on one jobseeker caseload and employer portfolio.
  • Engage and motivate jobseekers to identify their strengths and employment opportunities.
  • Engage in networking activities to strengthen relationships with local business.
  • Liaise with our Occupational Therapist team with any health-based job seekers.
  • Generate your own leads and feel the buzz of placing people into sustainable work.
  • Ownership of the entire employment services process through to post-placement support.

About you

  • Have enthusiasm and determination to help people find work, coach and develop our clients to positively address work pathways. Believe and embody a "work first approach"
  • Ability to confidently generate leads from a "cold call" and turn them into employment - sales experience would be a distinct advantage.
  • Passionate, committed and ethical approach to placing people into work.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to identify and sell a person's strengths and abilities and find solutions "outside the square"
  • Resilient demeanour with a positive outlook – an absolute ‘must have’
  • Proven results in an individual and team target driven environment
  • Excellent time management and administration skills
  • Some ‘life experience’! This will give you the compassion, credibility, strength and wisdom to deal with challenges some of our longer-term unemployed clients.
  • Experience working in the health and disability sector is an advantage however full Occupational Therapist support is provided.
