It’s a job like no other!  Based in Whanganui, you will work with a variety of job seekers, in gaining sustainable employment.  Experience or understanding of the Employment sector would be advantageous, as would knowledge of the challenges the Post-Covid19 landscape presents from both jobseekers’ and employers’ perspectives.  Travel within Whanganui, Marton is required and a company vehicle will be provided. 

You will need to be self-driven and comfortable working autonomously. Experience in employment services is not a ‘must’. Our employment consultants are selected from a wide range of careers -- including sales, social services, business development, government and industry.  Life skills, enthusiasm to help people, grit & resilience, and the ability to bring the best out of people are key attributes we look for.

Your role is to:

  • Manage your own one on one jobseeker caseload and employer portfolio.
  • Engage and motivate jobseekers to identify their strengths and employment opportunities.
  • Engage in networking activities to strengthen relationships with local business.  Local jobs for local people!
  • Generate your own leads and feel the buzz of placing people into sustainable work.
  • Take full ownership of the entire employment services process through to in-work support.

You possess:

  • Enthusiasm and determination to help people find work,
  • Capability in coaching and developing our clients to positively address work pathways.  You believe and embody a "work first approach"!
  • Ability to confidently generate leads from a "cold call" and turn them into employment - sales experience would be a distinct advantage.
  • Strong networks within the community
  • A passionate, committed and ethical approach to placing people into work.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to identify and sell a person's strengths and abilities and find solutions "outside the square"
  • Resilient demeanour with a positive outlook – an absolute ‘must have’
  • Proven results in an individual and team target driven environment
  • Excellent time management and administration skills
  • Some ‘life experience’! This will give you the compassion, credibility, strength and wisdom to deal with challenges some of our longer-term unemployed clients.
