Indigenous Specialist- Employment Consultant

  • Full Time

Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of others, and your own?

Join APM at one of our sites in Sydney North and West as an Employment Consultant working within our Indigenous Specialist Workforce Australia team.

We’re looking for people to help us bring positive changes to participants so they can develop the skills to find long term employment and become financially independent.

APM works with Indigenous employers, suppliers, and representatives in communities across Australia.

Recently we were selected to provide employment services for job seekers from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in regions of NSW and Queensland.

And we’re looking for the right people to join us full-time and grow our team to meet this important responsibility.

APM welcomes applications from First Nations people, and others with relevant experience, who want to join us in our contribution towards closing the gap in these communities.

Am I suited to being an Employment Consultant with APM?

Within our Indigenous Specialist Workforce Australia team, you will work directly with participants to help them develop the skills to become meaningfully employed in a suitable work environment.

Using our case management model, you will help your participants deal with any barriers to employment, find the right job, and then support them in employment.

You will have experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, organisations, and communities as well as well-developed communication skills, empathy, and cultural competence.

You may have experience in Employment Services, or you may bring transferrable skills from other industries such as retail or store management, travel or sales consulting, banking, sales, or hospitality - jobs that rely on great service and achieving targets.

You are comfortable working within a business that is highly regulated regarding privacy and other contractual procedures and requirements.

We're committed to you

APM continually improves our cultural capability as a service provider and employer.

We value and celebrate diversity in our teams and provide culturally appropriate training. APM gives team members the opportunity for input to cultural policy and operational development.

As one of our team, you'll be given an opportunity to complete a nationally accredited training course in Employment Services.

Working with APM you can gain invaluable experience, and the qualification to back it up.

Be rewarded for your success

Performance is part of our culture as it encourages us to help more people. Your role will attract a base salary plus an uncapped incentive structure. You'll also have unlimited personal use of a smartphone, free counselling services and a range of other benefits.

To be considered, you must:

  • be eligible to work in Australia
  • have a current driver’s licence and a comprehensively insured vehicle
  • be willing to complete a Criminal History Check
  • be able to secure a Working with Children Check
