The role:

This is an exciting and rare opportunity. Working as an ADF Backfill Rehabilitation Consultant, you will become a subject matter expert on all things defence! Working across ADF bases across Australia, you will enjoy diversity and the unique work setting that every Defence Force base has to offer.

Work across heritage listed defence sites, rich in history boasting original structures dated from pre-world War Two. Immerse in the thrill of fighter jets and Army Helicopters in training. You'll be working amongst the most technologically advanced systems, jet fleets and world renowned artillery.

From some of the most picturesque natural surrounds like Kokoda Barracks nestled in the Gold Coast Hinterland to the heart of the Sydney CBD at HMAS Kuttabul. Consider it a working holiday!

Whichever base you’re working on, you can be sure that your role is truly meaningful and purposeful. Supporting our military get fully fit and ready to defend and protect Australia:

  • Apply your clinical reasoning skills to support ADF personnel who have sustained a physical and/or psychological injury.
  • Perform a variety of assessments depending on your area of clinical expertise ie functional capacity evaluations, worksite, ergonomic or activities of daily living assessments
  • Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders including the employee who has suffered injury, illness, or trauma, medical specialists, other treatment providers and allied health professionals
  • Develop, implement and monitor rehabilitation plans.

KPI’s based on service delivery outcomes, NOT billable hours. Genuine person-centred focus and goal setting. This role will expose you to high level stakeholder engagement fast-tracking your career development pathways.

Joining a high-quality service provider, you will be SUPPORTED and MENTORED through direct interaction and an extensive onboarding process (incl. ongoing shadowing) to build your technical knowledge and expertise setting you up for success.

What will make you successful:

  • Current unrestricted registration or membership with the relevant industry body (AHPRA, ESSA, ASORC/RCAA or AASW)
  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counselling, Nursing, Osteopathy or Social Work
  • Strong clinical reasoning & passion to help people rehabilitate
  • Ability to work the hours 07:30 – 15:30 across various ADF bases across Australia
  • Ability to engage across multidisciplinary teams to support the achievement of a common goal
  • 12 months occupational rehabilitation experience 
  • Australian Citizenship
