Hear from our grads about their first steps towards building a career in allied health
APM’s Graduate Program offers allied health grads the opportunity to begin their career in a supportive environment as they make a positive difference to the lives of people with injury, illness or disability.
There's no better way to get a sense for how we work at APM than to hear directly from our people.
Here’s what Jacob and Olivia, 2022 APM Grads, had to say about being a member of our team.
Meet Jacob
- Role: Rehabilitation Consultant, Acumen Health
- Degree: Exercise Physiology (Clinical Exercise Physiology), University of the Sunshine Coast
What interested you in the APM Graduate Program?
APM’s program sparked my interest as I could start my career with more support than a traditional employee, with more resources to better equip me in my work environment and profession.
What have been your main roles and responsibilities as an APM Grad?
I’m a Rehabilitation Consultant for Acumen Health in Queensland, using skills learned at university and putting them into practice to help clients meet their rehabilitation from injury goals.
Outside of your day-to-day tasks, what has the Grad Program offered you?
It’s given me the opportunity to take part in networking sessions and attend webinars and workshops to continuously improve my skills in a workplace setting.
I’ve also had access to external courses in areas I feel I can improve on.
What have been your highlights as an APM Grad?
My highlight has been finding a career and a company where I can see myself for a long time. I’ve liked getting to know people across APM and gaining a broader understanding of my industry.
I’ve also seen that there are options for future careers at APM, if I ever decide to make a change from my initial field of work.
What insights would you give to someone thinking about applying for APM’s Grad Program?
I think they should go for it. There’s a lot of support and resources available for graduates who might not know where they truly belong.
I’ve found that APM is willing to guide and help find a direction that suits you. It’s been a worthwhile experience for me.
