Being part of the APM Group offers global career opportunities
Ben Powell always dreamed of living and travelling in the southern hemisphere, and fortunately for him, being part of APM means that he’s now able to call Australia home!
Originally from the UK, Ben has been part of the APM Group since 2017. He was an integral part of National Citizen Service program led by Ingeus, a leading provider of employment and human services and part of APM in the UK, Europe and Asia Pacific.
The UK’s National Citizen Service seeks to engage, unite and empower young people, building their confidence and skills to set them up for a positive and successful path ahead.
Initially a Recruitment Coordinator, Ben was promoted to National Implementation and Transition Lead, supporting Ingeus’ successful bid to deliver the program nationwide.
“We’d take groups into the outdoors and to live on a university campus for a week, boosting self-confidence and independence, and teaching time management and even cooking skills.
“Towards the end of the program, participants would take part in a social action project in their local communities – whether it was fundraising or volunteering, or similar activities to give back and experience creating positive outcomes.
“There were so many meaningful moments being part of the program – I could see the difference it made to the participants and I could sense the impact it would have on their life moving forward.”

Supportive leaders embrace change
The sunny skies and beaches of Australia were calling, however, and Ben took the initiative to talk to his leader about making the most of being part of a global organisation.
Acknowledging Ben’s potential and transferrable skills, his manager set up a conversation with APM’s International Placement Coordinator to discuss possible roles Down Under.
While it took some time to find the right role and navigate the visa process, Ben is now in Sydney and working as a Customer Manager at MCI Solutions, the country’s most innovative training and education provider – also part of the APM Group.
“I was thrilled to find a new and challenging role within APM. I’m loving the opportunity to help build MCI, talking to new customers and bringing them onboard.
There’s a lot happening with AI and new technology in learning space, so it’s really exciting to be part of that.”
Ben has been welcomed into the Australian lifestyle by colleagues who have become friends, always willing to offer advice on exploring a new country.
“I really appreciated the effort APM went to in helping me find a new role.
“Life changes sometimes, and it’s nice to know my employer was supportive and willing to go the extra mile (kilometre!) to support me and my interest in taking on a new experience.
“I look forward to making an impact with MCI and embracing the opportunity I’ve been given.”
