Building brighter futures and meaningful careers
Jes Tilley joined APM Employment Services in 2016 and has enjoyed the opportunity to build her career from Business Manager to Regional Manager, and on to her current role as State Manager for APM’s Disability Employment Service’s team in Queensland.
“APM believes in its people and importance of enabling the chance to progress as we grow and build our knowledge of the industry."
“I’ve been made to feel that the sky is the limit in terms of achieving what you want to here, especially as it’s such a large, global organisation now.”
One of the most enjoyable aspects of Jes’ current role as State Manager is helping her team to grow into their roles and supporting their achievements.
“Nothing brings me more joy than seeing my team succeed, whether that be as a collective or individually. Their success is what drives me to be better and do better, every day.”
Jes’ got to know her team and their insights in depth while studying for her Master of Business Administration (MBA), where a research project required contact with every DES employee in Queensland.
“Throughout my studies, I was supported by APM to achieve my goals and I was grateful for the chance to conduct such thorough research with the backing of my leaders and team.
Similarly, I’m a working mum and often find that the balance between career and parenting can be challenging. APM has given me flexibility when needed so that I can be present for my kids, which we all appreciate.”
Throughout the course of our interview with Jes, we were excited to discovered that she’s a classical trained musician – with the viola being her instrument of choice!
However, fortunately for APM, she’s going to stick with us and continue to play an important role in enabling better lives for people with a disability across Queensland.
“The work we do is engaging and meaningful – how lucky are we to be able to change lives, everyday!”
