Orlaith O'Neill shares her experience of APM's supportive and collaborative culture
Orlaith O’Neill is a Senior Rehabilitation Consultant at APM WorkCare, part of the APM Group and a leading provider of workplace health and wellbeing programs across Australia, working to reduce the personal and business impact of workplace injuries and illness through prevention, education, rehabilitation and training.
We recently spoke to Orlaith about her experience working with the APM Group – let’s hear what she had to say!
Let's hear a bit about you and your career so far...
“I joined APM in November 2022 after relocating from Ireland to Sydney. Back in Ireland, I’d mainly worked in private practice in physiotherapy and had always wanted to try occupational rehabilitation. APM has not only enabled me to explore this area, but I’ve also been able to gain experience in using virtual reality, understanding ergonomics and much, much more!”
Can you tell us how your APM career journey has developed?
“I started out as a Rehabilitation Consultant, playing an important role in supporting a client’s recovery from illness or injury. It was a new world to me and I’m grateful for the amazing guidance and assistance from my leaders and team members.
I’ve loved the opportunities and support offered at APM, and I’m delighted to have been promoted to Senior Rehabilitation Consultant. I now feel confident in my ability to work within this field and provide the support to others that was given to me.”
How has APM supported your career?
“APM has been nothing but supportive throughout my career. I have constantly been provided with a safe space to discuss topics I may have been unsure about and I’ve always felt comfortable to speak with leaders on any level – everyone is happy to help!”
What do you enjoy about working at APM and your role?
“The variety of my role at APM is what I love the most! Every client is different, every injury is different, and every day is different!
My role at APM provides enough of a challenge so that I can be engaged with my work and find that sweet spot of enjoyment without becoming overwhelmed. My leadership team are great for checking in on this with me.”
What can you do at APM (personally and professionally) that you couldn't do anywhere else?
“For me, the relationship with leaders at any level stands out at APM. It’s an environment where I can speak comfortably with my line managers, but also the Branch managers in other states, and even with the General Manager. Having this dynamic allows me to feel supported and excited to work here.”
