Occupational Therapist – ADL Assessment Specialist (ADF & DVA)

Make a meaningful difference to the lives of Defence members and Veterans.

Acumen Health is experiencing strong growth in demand for Activities of Daily Living (ADL) assessments and is looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our specialist military rehabilitation team.

If you enjoy assessment work, value autonomy, and are passionate about supporting those who have served Australia, this is an outstanding opportunity to apply your expertise where it matters most.

You'll help Defence members and Veterans access the services and supports they need to maximise independence, improve quality of life, and achieve meaningful outcomes.

Why this role stands out

If you're looking for a role that offers work-life balance, flexibility and autonomy, this could be exactly what you've been searching for.

  • Predominantly work-from-home position
  • Flexible part-time opportunities available (2-3 days per week).
  • Manage your own diary and schedule your own appointments
  • Minimal office-based requirements
  • Conduct assessments primarily across Metropolitan Melbourne; occasional regional travel to Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo (travel reimbursed)
  • Focus on high-quality assessments rather than high-volume caseloads

About the role

This position is dedicated primarily to conducting Activities of Daily Living (ADL) assessments for Defence personnel and Veterans.  You will:

  • Conduct comprehensive in-home ADL assessments for ADF members and Veterans
  • Assess functional capacity, daily living needs, independence and support requirements
  • Prepare high-quality, evidence-based assessment reports and recommendations
  • Utilise your clinical reasoning skills to identify barriers to function and participation
  • Manage your own scheduling, administration and workflow with strong organisational support

Why Acumen Health?

Acumen Health is Australia's leading provider of occupational rehabilitation services and the exclusive provider of occupational rehabilitation services to the Australian Defence Force.  Our clinicians are supported to focus on quality outcomes through:

  • Structured onboarding, training and mentoring
  • Ongoing clinical supervision and professional development
  • Strong administrative and operational support
  • A collaborative multidisciplinary network
  • Career progression opportunities across the wider APM Group

What we're looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • Current AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist
  • Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills
  • Excellent report writing and communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule
  • Current Australian Driver Licence and access to a vehicle
  • Experience in ADL assessments, community OT or rehabilitation (desirable but not essential)
