From a small town, to making a big difference
Growing up in a rural community of only 300 residents, Stacey wasn’t exposed to many diverse career opportunities. But, when her sister was involved in a serious car accident, it became a pivotal moment. Witnessing the dedication and compassion of the healthcare professionals involved in her sister’s recovery ignited Stacey’s interest in the health sector and inspired her to pursue a career focused on supporting others.
“I knew at the end of my VCE that I wanted to study psychology. I already had an interest in occupational stress and coping strategies. That was my thesis in university. I think something that inspired me to follow the path of a psychologist was just the inherent need to want to help other people and make a difference.”
Stacey started tertiary studies at regional universities, completing her thesis and began working clinical roles within the public mental health system and private practice — providing treatment to a diverse client base, delivering employee assistance programs and psychological assessments.
Her interest in occupational rehabilitation led Stacey to join Konekt, part of the APM Group, as a Local Area Manager and Registered Psychologist. Her strong leadership skills and clinical expertise quickly earned her a promotion to Area Manager. In this role, she now oversees multidisciplinary teams providing employment counselling and psychologists assessment services across states.
These days, Stacey leverages her clinical background to mentor consultants and foster a supportive, high-performing team culture. With the encouragement of her leader she identified key areas for professional development and was supported in attaining Board Approved Supervisor status.
“The support of the wider management team has just really been integral to my career. Progression has also enabled me to undertake professional development. Being in a leadership position has just been very, very rewarding.”
“Being part of a larger organisation such as the Global APM Group is really beneficial to me in my career and shaping my future. The leadership team are very supportive of me and my career. And having other leaders with allied health backgrounds has been quite encouraging for me, as they understand the service and we can work on business growth and strategic tasks collaboratively.”
Stacey values the collaborative and development-focused environment at Konekt and is passionate about nurturing future psychologists and emerging leaders. She also remains committed to cultivating a positive, inclusive workplace where individuals feel empowered to thrive.
